We have a little old model Ford snowblower on the three-point of our JD 4300. Trying to blow snow for the first time this season, the snow just packs in the little chute and sticks. This never happened with it last winter. Is it a problem with the type of snow, or did we not do something we should have to make the snowblower less sticky? Thanks for help!

Tan, I am no expert with tractor mounted blowers, but my experience with walk behinds is that 1. you are not at an appropriate rpm 2. the stuf was just too wet to move with your machine and make it through the described small chute. Is it a single stage or two stage with a seperate fan for the chute? That could make a difference in heavy, wet material. Hope this helps. ....

Cutes do clog. Somebody mentioned a spray that they use to help keep snow from sticking to a loader bucket. I don't know if something like that would be any help in a blower chute. You might check that the blower and PTO speeds are compatible. As Cutter mentioned, the chute is going to clear best if the tractor is run at PTO rpm. In addition, I find that my chute clogs a lot if I don't clear it before stopping. I have a 2-stage clutch, so I can run the blower while the tractor is stopped. To clear the chute, I just come to a stop and let the auger run until snow clears from the chute. ....

I like that--'Cutes do clog.' Too cute. Maybe I should rely less on the spell checker and actually do some proof reading. I suppose using fewer words would help too. ....

Tom, I have a 'Cute' snowblower for you, if I can find a pic I will post it for all to see. One of my employees made it as a joke, one of the guys on a sidewalk crew put his walk-behind blower in neutral (or so he thought) while he stepped inside for a leak & smoke (too much cold air gets to 'ya), but it slipped back into gear & left without him. So they made him one which is a replacement head for a string trimmer, that way he carry it with him to the 'john' to keep an eye on it. All kidding aside, you should see this thing throw snow!! ....

My wife is anti-machinery, but maybe she'd use such a thing. She won't use our oddball hand blower because it is very prone to jumping out of neutral. Guess that's par for these fly-wheel/rubber donut type transmissions. The machine does have a main belt type clutch before the transmission that can be thrown. However, you either have to hold in the clutch and reach around the engine to throw it. Or, you can let loose of the clutch and wonder if you'll end up running along side the blower and hoping the chute is on the other side. Anyway, my wife isn't going to do either, and if I said that's 'cute,' I suppose I could be in for some trouble. The make of the blower is 'OSC,' which I believe stands for 'Ontario Small Equipment Cooperative.' I think the machine is a rare piece of history, but it works fine.
